You Will Never Have A Trading Light-bulb Moment
Everyone is different, but you will more than likely not have a light-bulb moment that takes you from an unprofitable, to a profitable trader.
You will not find a magical light-bulb moment by signing up to tipsters, betting systems, a new piece of software, reading any particular book or throwing all your money at the markets. Sports trading courses are great but no, you will not have a light-bulb moment there either.
There is no fast track to success in this game.
Speaking from experience and as someone who actually sells betting products myself, you will not become an overnight success buying them. You will also not wake up on the right side of the bed one morning and and make perfect trades from that point onward.
I remember the feeling when I paid for an annual subscription of the market leading Betfair API. I felt professional. I wholeheartedly believed that my account balance would only grow from here on out. How wrong I was! After all, it’s just a tool (a very good one I might add!).
The truth is, it’s a gradual and constant uphill struggle. It’s a constant battle war with yourself. Books, courses and other materials/experiences all help towards becoming a stronger trader. The more you study, the more you practise, the better you will get.
Even when you feel like you have have “cracked it”, your bank won’t be very big so you will need to wait for compound interest to do its thing before you are even taking home any significant amount of money!
I’d love to hear from you if you’ve had any “light-bulb moments”. Perhaps the right approach is to expect thousands of miniature light-bulb moments, but no single one will ever make you a great trader.
What do you think?
Hi Laurence,
Totally agree mate. Some light-bulb moments will shed more light on things than others and some switches don’t necessarily turn on the same lights ….pardon the puns
Personally, i think its more of an uncharted journey rather than a battle. Every iceberg hit, oasis mirage and engine failure will inevitably cost you time, money and confidence but to echo the majority of pro traders, treat them as travel costs. And remember to always map out the way 🙂
Nice words Matt 🙂 Very poetic! Hope your ship is sailing strong 🙂
